NASCAR ONE ENGINE RULE

NASCAR ANNOUNCES ONE ENGINE RULE FOR NASCAR WINSTON CUP SERIES IN 2002
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 14, 2001) – Effective for the 2002 season, engines used to qualify a car for a NASCAR Winston Cup Series event must be used in the race, NASCAR officials announced today.
In the event the engine used to qualify the car does not start the race, then at the discretion of the Series Director, the starting position will be relinquished and the car will drop to the rear of the field prior to the start of the race.
Certain events during the 2002 season may require amendments to this rule (i.e., Gatorade 125s, Coca-Cola 600, etc.)
